Long time, no post...

I'm dropping the ball here! This was supposed to be an exercise in daily discipline. Must. Redouble. Efforts...

Lesseee, last post was on Friday, is now Tuesday night.

Saturday I went to Hopkinsville for the UHA Alumni Soccer game. Not as good a turnout this year, but surprisingly Steve Gorman showed up. Has just moved to Nashville. Just got off the road from touring with the Stereophonics (?). Feel like I should know who the Stereophonics are, but I don't. Sucks to get old and not give so much of a shit about music anymore.

Game went well for me. Well for an almost 40 year old, 245 lb guy who has always been slower than the kids on the short bus. Got several good headers, one right in the face. Weird because I had a premonition that something would happen to my glasses and brought my spare pair. They were knocked off my head, but OK. Never got winded throughout 80 minutes of play. Ran hard. Knees did not hurt after the fact (thank you Glucosamine & Condroitin).

After party something of a disappointment. Becky was having a dinner party so the pool house was not available. Original plan was to watch the girls game and drink around the field. Girls game fell through. Ended up going to Taylor's house, which is beautiful. I was struck by how close they all live together. Tom is right across the street from Taylor (well, right out the back door) and they're both about 30 seconds from Becky. I guess this relates back to Mom, Becky and Leese -- those three houses aren't much more separated. I miss that sort of thing, sometimes. Mostly not, though.

Taylor's back yard opens up into the big field behind Grandmother's old house. After a few drinks I couldn't resist. I skulked off to the back of her house to check it out. Still the same, still different. Gravel driveway is gone, as is the garage, the concrete benches and the walnut trees. Everything else looked much the same. I don't know why old places interest me so much. Somehow I expect to find residue of my experience there. They do help to spur my memory sometimes.

Continued drinking, unfortunately. Was very very hungover next morning, which sucked greatly. Had not been drinking for about 3 weeks prior, which could have been a contributing factor. Also hadn't eaten much. Have not felt much inclination to drink since, which is a good thing.

Worked yesterday. Legs very sore. Worked today. Legs less sore. Reg review subcommittee meeting, was very uneventful. Had another nice conversation with Rep. Pullen. I think she has the hots for me (if so, the feeling is somewhat mutual.)

Leg workout tonight followed by a softball game. Tomorrow is the first day of school. I have a physical scheduled for 9 a.m. (fun fun fun!)
